Cyborgs, spaceships, dystopian landscapes… that’s the background of Rebel Moon, the new Zack Snyder Netflix saga. Out in two parts, its debut Part One: A Child of Fire arrives in the streaming service by December 15, and the second, Part Two: The Scargiver, will be released on April 19, 2024. The epic saga sprawls beyond one world and features a menagerie of planets, full of cyborg warriors, half-humanoid arachnids and ancient robots, starring Staz Nair, Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein and Doona Bae.

Snyder has been working on this story for more than three decades, a tale focused on outcasts, malcontents and refugees from many disparate planets who join forces to rise up together against a punishing authoritarian government. While there are similarities to Star Wars, the film is said to be radically different and will hopefully be the beginning of a new franchise.

On the final countdown to the release on the big screens, the cast joined an A-list of celebrities at the film’s premiere last week in London. Here, British/Indian actor Staz Nair takes us backstage in an exclusive photo diary as he gets ready for the big day. “My stylist Monty Jackson and I landed on this look based on my love for texture and form,” Nair shares. “I asked him to find a way of making an impression without illustrating the need to be seen. I think we achieved that with the dishevelled crushed velvet.”

“I’ve always loved Varvatos and they very kindly dressed me for my first premiere! John Varvatos has such a keen eye for materials and colors and I love how they amalgamate classic styles with modern ideas. Wearing this look made me feel like a nobleman from a dystopian future. Growing up, I dreamed of working with many of the actors in this movie, so to have that happen, AND have them compliment my look for the night, was a surreal way of realizing my moment in the sun.”
