Amongst the most exciting emerging DJs and producers in the UK, Hannah Laing has been putting in the work for years to get to this pinnacle point of being on the brink of releasing her debut EP.
With two hardcore ravers for parents, Laing was introduced into the hedonism and ethos of DJing and electronic music from a young age, with house and trance music rarely far from her ears. At 18 she embarked on her first season in Ibiza, and completed an additional two, mastering her craft in the party capital of Europe. The Scot soon found herself in the eyes and ears of the public with her superb edit of Sophie Ellis Bexter’s “Murder on the Dancefloor,” and has gone from strength to strength since, releasing a run of effervescent and engaging tracks, such as “Good Love” and “Party All The Time,” which saw her stock rise higher than ever before.
Looking to take her artistry to the next level, Laing is looking to go above and beyond in her contributions to the industry, launching her own label, doof. She will be releasing her debut EP on the label on 15th December, a project that looks set to raise awareness of her label venture, and cement her seat as one of the hottest producers in the UK.
Ahead of the release of the EP, the artist will be putting on a spectacle at this week’s Rise Festival, the ski-electronic-music extravaganza that Wonderland will be attending. With the promise of huge rave-ready bangers and dextrous technical prowess, we can’t wait to catch her set on Tuesday night!
We caught up with Hannah before Rise, chatting origins, collaborations, the new EP, and what to expect from her performance at the festival.

Talk us through your production origins?
I was doing seasons DJing in Ibiza and a worker DJ was doing production lessons. I did a few sessions with him, and it was the first insight I had ever had into how a track was made, start to finish.
Why is collaboration such an important element of your creating?
Being able to bounce ideas off each other and use sounds or techniques you may not have thought to use yourself, which could really improve the track.
Who would be your dream collab?
It would definitely have to be VTSS, I love her music style.
Congratulations on your forthcoming EP! What provoked the decision to release it at this point in your career?
I’m launching my own record label and I wanted to make the first release a full EP from myself, which really shows the sound I’m pushing at the moment.
What influenced the project sonically?
It’s influenced by hard dance, the sound I listened to growing up.
What statement are you making with the EP?
I want people to understand my sound more and having three tracks on the EP shows the different styles.
We can’t wait for your set at Rise Festival! What drew you to performing there?
Some mates of mine have played there and they said it was amazing, I can’t wait to get on the slopes too!
What can we expect from your performance?
High energy!!
What are you most looking forward to at the festival?
Performing and learning how to ski (hopefully ha!)
What’s to come from you next year?
Launching my own record label, building a collective of artists and throwing label parties!
