BRITISH FASHION AWARDS

Best look, best beauty, and… best car selfie? These are our favorite moments from 2023’s British Fashion Awards.

Yesterday, an A-list of guests took over London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall to award the best and most innovative personas of the year in the British fashion scene at the British Fashion Awards. From designers who are making history in fashion houses around the world to models and even journalists who are, bit by bit, helping to change the industry towards a better place, these names are national gems that should be celebrated. Here are our favourite moments of 2023’s BFA. Keep scrolling…

Paloma Elsesser, Model of the Year

Paloma Elsesser is the first curve woman to ever win the Model of the Year category at the Fashion Awards 2023. This year’s lineup was the most diverse it’s ever been, with Elsesser beating out Alton Mason, Anok Yai, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, Liu Wen, and Mona Tougaard. Wearing a custom Ferragamo cut-out organic dress in black wool crepe and bonded leather, she stole the show.

The competition was tough, but Adut Akech took our breath away in a custom KNWLS dress for the BFA’s red carpet, styled by Shaquille Ross-Williams. Flowy and extremely sensual, the gladiator-esque caramel outfit combined a skin-tight corset and layers of sheer fabric that beautifully contoured her silhouette.

Our Fave Beauty

Cindy Kimberly in Di Petsa would be a strong candidate for best outfit of the night, but some would say that it was her beauty that truly completed the look. Whimsical, fresh, and extremely modern, she nailed her makeup by combining a sparkly champagne eyeshadow that beautifully connected over her cheekbones with a strobing highlighter. On her hair, a beautiful pearled piece was the perfect addition to this wannabe bridal, wannabe goddess look. Obsessed!

#NoMakeup Pam Anderson

And, she did it again! Pamela Anderson was the talk of the town during the latest Paris Fashion Week after joining the front row of a handful of runways bare-faced. And, if you had any doubts about her intentions, she’s back to prove that her makeup-free times were not just a phase. She looked absolutely stunning and fresh as she crossed BFA’s red carpet, rocking a full-white Stella McCartney look.

Jonathan Anderson, a National Treasure

Surprising absolutely no one, the British designer won the Designer of the Year category at the 2023 Fashion Awards for his work with Spanish house Loewe. One for the books!

Most Iconic Fashion Moment

Anne Hathaway is fully embracing her fashion calendar this year. For the British Fashion Awards, she pulled out an iconic Valentino Haute Couture dress from 1993, previously worn by legacy model Christy Turlington. At the event, Giancarlo Giammetti, the designer’s partner in work and life, told gathered reporters that, “Valentino designed it thinking about spaghetti.” Who wore it better? Hard to say.
