Hi Sita, congratulations on your debut EP. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the tracks?
Thank you! As everything I work on, I get inspired by everything that happens or I see in my life. Mostly from my experiences and feelings as a human being. “GENERACION XDISIS” speaks about my renaissance as an artist and, most of all, as a woman for being the mother of two beautiful kids. I used XDISIS as a term to refer to the ecdysis—when reptiles or other insects shed their old skin. Working on this EP took me like 2 years.. and they were probably the most significant and important two years of my life, with how it has changed and how it has affected my perception of it. The EP represents and speaks about the evolution and mutation of my own being.

Can you walk us through your upbringing? What initially led you to pursue a career in music, and which artists or experiences have influenced your musical journey?
I started DJing when I was 18. Everything started as a hobby, and finally, even though it still continues to be the same because I enjoy it a lot, it has become a job. I love to connect with people through music every day as much as I enjoy dressing up and having fun with my looks. Until now, all these years, I feel like DJing has been one of the tools I used to express myself—mostly about how I feel. For many years, I’ve felt inside of me the need to release my own music, a sound that really represents and speaks about me, expressing my message and my story. I believe with this EP, I kind of found myself, even though I still need to learn much more. But I am really excited about what I achieved with this, and I hope you like it as much as I do.

For artists that have inspired me the most—on top of everybody—I should mention my muse since I was a teenager, the legend Miss Kittin. She is the best, and I think you can clearly find some inspiration in my music, especially with 333.

How would you describe your overall musical style and the genre with which you feel most closely aligned with?
I would say that I’m not trying to find a specific style, just the sound that I like. But hey, Generation XDISIS is very influenced by hard techno, ruta de bakalao sounds (in the synths especially), electroclash, and a punky approach to the vocals. Overall, just the music I love and pay homage to.

Tell us about your new single, “333.” What’s the story behind the song?

333 speaks from a feeling of frustration of wanting and not being able to achieve. To be honest, there have been many different moments in my life in which I have felt this way, and I wanted to show this in a sarcastic and funny way in which I laugh about myself for probably not having been able to understand and believe in the process. When I finished the song, I realised it lasts 3 min and 33 seconds, and I believe so much in numerology and the “messages” that the angels send through the numbers that I realised it was as if they were trying to communicate to me that I am on the right path. I love the duality of both things, and I would love to inspire somebody who might be on a difficult journey to keep fighting for what they believe because dreams are to be lived, even though things sometimes seem to be far away or impossible. If you really fight for it and put your love into it, you will make it.

Could you share a bit about your creative process when it comes to writing and recording music?
I feel very inspired by many things. Music, films, fashion, art… but mostly, my feelings play the most important role in this. I am usually inspired when speaking about my feelings… and their destruction. The most difficult and challenging moments of my life inspired me the most. But when it comes to the creative process, I need to feel well and secure of myself because if not, I start to feel blocked, and it becomes impossible to know what I want to do. I always go to the studio inspired and with many ideas in my head, and there, at the “laboratory,” I experiment with my creativity until I find the right sound I am searching for.

Your career spans fashion, music, and digital culture. How do these diverse interests and experiences influence your music and artistic expression?
I have always thought I could express myself and my creativity with a lot of freedom, and I love to mix settings and combine elements and not give recognisable or easy ways to categorize myself. I could say that my music inspires my fashion, and my fashion inspires my music, and it’s all held together by a digital link and, more and more so, through the evolution of technology and digital platforms that gave me initially the luck to be away from myself and to get out of my hometown and connect me to the world.

As a DJ, producer, and stylist, you’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of high-profile artists. Can you share a memorable experience or collaboration that stands out to you?
I loved every musical feature I’ve done so far: Regal, Hector Oaks (who’s the founder of the KAOS label where my EP is coming out), and Cardopusher, with whom I have a featuring on the EP They all have been amazing and taught me so much. My way of having fun with music is very much through collaborations, as I sometimes think of myself as a collector of good music and amazing inspirations, so this is very much a part of my journey. I will always be very open to collaborations and blending and merging creativity. I strongly believe in the incredible and amazing uniqueness of every single person’s talent, but when more uniqueness comes together, that’s when the real magic happens.

The EP features influences from various techno eras. What attracts you to these specific genres, and how do they contribute to your unique sound?
Again, like mixing diverse talents and collaborations, I also believe in the freedom of expression of what I like. It took me a lot of time to learn to produce, and this process compels and rich had to go through all the different sounds of electronic that I love, and I wanted to pay my little personal homage to the genres of techno that I love: Ruta destroy, new beat electroclash, hard techno, rave… But my approach, I would define it as very punk in this vision of the importance of individuality and in the sense that I really do not care about categories and that I am very fierce and spontaneous. I’ve always done what I like and what is true to me without being a sheep or being in line or doing what the majority think one should do. I will never apologize for acting out of line.

The EP is said to explore themes such as mutation, evolution, and shedding skin, reflecting your personal transformation from DJ to producer, from club kid to having kids, and your exploration of creativity. Could you elaborate on how the EP translates this new chapter?
I love snakes. That’s my spirit animal… An homage to Dali, maybe. This obsession with the snake as a symbolic animal and the skin shedding was the natural and perfect metaphor for all the changes that happened in my life. I wanted to elevate that in some sort of way to tell a younger me: Hey, young Sita, everything is gonna be ok. Things work out in the end. And that is a message I wanna tell so many young and insecure kids out there, just as I have been. Be yourself even if they say you are the weird one. Peculiarity is what will make you great. You know what? You’re already great with your so-called defects! There is no such thing as “un bico raro” as we say in Spain. That’s the very core of your essence… Live it. Take risks. It will be worth it.

Looking ahead, what are your future goals and aspirations as an artist?
My future goals are to keep learning and growing and finding the best ways to express myself and my message.
