KAREN NYAME KG — “RED”

The British-Ghanaian artist takes another step in her polymath journey with the release of a 3-track EP. Here, she guides us through the new project, track by track.

For some, the year might feel like it’s coming to an end. But for Karen Nyame KG, it feels like it’s just beginning. The British-Ghanaian singer has just announced her upcoming EP, “Red,” a 3-track musical project. This also marks a new beginning as she shares news of her brand new imprint, Rhythm In The City. Talking about P.L.L, the first single to be released, she says: “P.L.L” is darker in mood, an electronic, low-end, Afro Percussive bounce. It is a tale of heartbreak, jealousy and unrequited love.”

Released one year after her acclaimed 2022 hit “Taboo” and 2021’s sun-soaked “Sensei II” EP, the EP is a lush and luxurious slice of deep Afro-house. It draws on her experiences with the darker side of romance. Here, she provides insights into each track in a track-by-track review, giving listeners a glimpse of what they can expect from this new chapter. Keep scrolling…

Listen to the EP…

Wet”

“Wet” is naughty, pretty much what it says on the tin, the allure of your love interest consuming you so much that it excites you, despite them being dangerous! It’s a sweet and seductive uptempo Afro groove, sampling my previous work “Sensei”, layered with Ghanaian Highlife riffs supplied by Obe380 The Guitarist. Wet is a melodic earworm.

“P.L.L”

“P.L.L” is darker in mood, an electronic, low end, Afro Percussive bounce. It is a tale of heartbreak, jealousy and unrequited love. This is pretty much a diary entry in music format.

“Nightryde”

“Nightryde” is a sexy club, sub bass, electronic roller, this is a co-collaborative effort with Atlanta’s, Leonce. I pretty much express desires for my lovers in Atlanta and in London. I am an international femme lothario so to speak, cheeky, braggadocious, tapping into my sensuous but street side with a mix between vocals and rap.
