CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN SS24

The luxury French label combines virtual worlds with reality during Paris Fashion Week, unveiling their newest collection with a performance-driven show.

Exploring the culturally relevant conversation of the relationship between humanity and technology, Christian Louboutin unveiled his Spring/Summer 2024 collection with a live contemporary performance and digital art installation. Combining the two realms into an immersive, cohesive experience, the luxury Parisian brand took over the Grand Amphitheatre of La Sorbonne for a celebration of fashion, dance, art, and innovation.

Working with Belgian-Moroccan director and choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and German-Persian digital artist Tobias Gremmler, Louboutin formed a dream team of collaborators. Known for his work with grand theatres and high-profile performers, Larbi brought the Spring/Summer 2024 collection to life with awe-inspiring performances from over fifteen dancers, including none other than Viktoria Modesta, the world’s first bionic pop artist.

Infused with enchantment and magic, the show was heightened by Gremmler’s innovative visual concept, taking the brand’s signature red to new heights with state-of-the-art, moving robotic technology screens featuring virtual bodies. Set to a musical score centred around an Arabic love poem — celebrating Louboutin’s Egyptian heritage — the show proved to be a comprehensive and exciting mix of technology, craftsmanship, artistry, and culture.

“Dance is universal, in any culture, dance has its own special resonance,” Christian Louboutin explains. “Sidi Larbi did this amazing mix of styles and culture, that is something I also cherish in my work. Incorporating technology to this show was also a fantastic exercise, Tobias worked on the iconic codes of the brand and made them evolve into virtual images in movement which were really fascinating.”
