PREMIERE: “FLOWERS OF EVIL” – OLIVER MARSON

Deep dive into this rising star’s profound and powerfully introspective new single…

Oliver Marson’s latest single, “Flowers of Evil”, is a mesmerising glimpse into the artistic brilliance of a rising star in the music scene. This track, a teaser to his eagerly anticipated debut album, “Why Did I Choose This?”, offers a sonic experience that defies convention and challenges the status quo.

Marson’s unique blend of art-pop transcends listeners to a time where musical boundaries are a true grey area. His softly delivered vocals, are coupled with satirical lyrics that boldly reflect the stark realities of our modern world.

Speaking on the project himself, Marson explains, “I wrote this one during lockdown. I was listening to a lot of Weyes Blood. It’s a song that comes from the heart about getting older and running out of time. It’s about wanting a change, but being stuck in the same loop. About desiring an escape, but coming back to the same centre. And even now, we’ve been able to escape things aren’t much different. For the video, I went away with a friend to Lanzarote and we made a DIY short film, inspired by The Passenger (Antonioni), Revolver and Paris Texas. I wanted to get across that feeling of being lost in the video, so going to the desert made sense. In the video, I fake my own death in the hope of leaving my past behind. It’s about trying to escape your life. But, ultimately failing”

“Flowers of Evil” highlights the times we live in, a poignant anthem for an era marked by political uproar and existential introspection. Marson’s inward looking songwriting shines, as he embarks on the journey and passage of time, along with the desire for change while being trapped in a repetitive cycle. The song’s emotional depth resonates with anyone who has questioned their place in the world.
