Born and raised in North Carolina, indie singer-songwriter Lily Hair is now a key member of New York City’s alt-pop circle. Following the success of recent single “Spicy”, “Wrapped Up” has certainly arrived with a bang. A simple bass line and clear vocals counter the explorations of stress and inner turmoil for a complex, playful, and thought-provoking melody. “I wrote it last summer when I had a lot on my plate and was struggling with a constant low mood,” Hain explains. “Despite my best efforts to keep moving forward and look on the bright side, I still couldn’t get rid of the constant pit in my stomach.” Perhaps this song — with its sobering, cathartic sound — is her way towards a brighter chapter. For us at least, the silky smooth track feels like a breath of fresh air.

The music video for “Wrapped Up” is also out now — an animation by Madison Haymes with visual depictions of the balance between hope and hopelessness. Neon colours fill the space as the protagonist chips at her newly-painted nails and lies in bed, separated from the buzzing city just outside.
