A newcomer has emerged into the pop hemisphere! Angelica has been mastering her craft away from the public eye honing here craft in the basement piano rooms of Columbia University and the libraries of Oxford and Cambridge. Well travelled with a wealth of cultural knowledge and creative brevity, the singer-songwriter looks poised to rise through the ranks of the industry.

We are introduced to the sonic and thematic universe of Angelica through her debut single, “James”, released via SoundOn. The track is a hazy, endoscopic dream-pop cut that plays with the concepts of fantasy and reality. The instrumental is ethereal yet sharp, bringing together an array of influences into a succinct sound. Lyrically, we hear the acumen of Angelica’s words; written as a heartbroken twenty-one year old, the song explores a doomed relationship in a mature and insightful manner.

On the single, Angelica offers, ““James” is a song about ignoring red flags, the self-betrayal of knowing someone isn’t good for you and dating them anyway. I wrote it on a Monday in July, after meeting the first boy I loved for the last time. I headed to his place to hand him a letter, and he handed me my things. He said, “let’s meet for dinner tomorrow night,” but we never told the truth. I wrote the hook on the Tube ride home.”
