BAPE HEADS SHOW

It’s A BATHING APE’s 30th anniversary, and the brand celebrated in style: immersive experiences, surprise runway stars, and a meaningful look at their history.

With a celebration of fashion, music, and culture, A BATHING APE marked their 30th anniversary. The brand, which was founded in 1993 in the heart of Harajuku, has become synonymous with Japanese street style for three decades now. It was only fitting, therefore, that their Fall/Winter 2023 collection be presented in a momentous fashion.

Bringing together the main label with its four sub-brands — AAPE, BAPE BLACK, BAPY, and APEE — the return of the BAPE HEADS SHOW was bigger and better than ever. The event transformed Manhattan’s “Terminal 5” into an immersive experience, taking attendees through the history of BAPE, chapter by chapter. Curated by creative director Polina Zakharova and produced by Svetlana Yermolayeva, the BAPE HEADS SHOW reflected all of the artistries that make the brand what it is. Including aspects of dance, skate, music, and sports, it was as comprehensive as the five brands are.

The FW23 BAPE collection was split into three themes: “Sport Mania”, “College Classic”, and “Denim Painter”. Touching on the extensive history of the brand’s designs and global impact, these themes reference 90s hip-hop, draw inspiration from classic American collegiate looks, and explore the relationship between art and fashion while paying homage to the work of Jackson Pollock.

With some of the hottest names in American hip-hop walking the runway — such as Lil Baby, who later performed at the party — it was non-stop excitement. Nostalgic, freeing, inclusive, exciting, and fresh, the event was live-streamed globally, giving all fans the chance to celebrate together.

To commemorate this event, a limited edition collection will be offered globally on July 1.
