PREMIERE: MAIMUNA MEMON – “INSOMNIA (LIVE)”

The rising multi-disciplinarian talent further showcases her soaring talent with a live variant of her latest single.

Maimuna Memon is showcasing herself as a exciting creative. Upholding a flowering vitality of a multi-faceted nature, the talent of Memon feels unwavering across multiple disciplines. She first spouted into the public eye with her Olivier-nominated turn in Richard Hawley’s musical Standing At The Sky’s Edge, before stunning with her self-written one-woman show Manic Street Creature. Following the consolidation of the craft in the theatrical hemisphere, Memon has now began pursing an artistic career.

We have been blessed with a live interpretation of “Insomnia”, the latest single from the rising star, which also features in Manic Street Creature. We find Maimuna in a naturalistic backdrop, acoustic guitar in hand and accompanied by a cellist, dazzling with her gorgeous, provoking vocals and heart rendering lyricism. It’s an intimate yet enigmatic setting, perfectly mirroring the enchanting tale of love and lust that the song untangles.

Speaking on her creative output, Memon offers, “I have always wanted to bridge the gap between the music industry and theatre, and with Manic Street Creature I have tried to bring songs you might hear on record to the stage. With the music and story in combination, I have tried to create an immersive, gig like experience, with a strong narrative alongside it. The show and its musical content come from a deeply personal place. More than anything I hope that people can watch this show and feel like they aren’t alone”.
