Anyone who is a regular reader of Wonderland will know how highly we rate Kamal.. The swiftly rising, North-West London talent transcends genre like few others, showcased in abundance on his recent sprawling EP, “so here you are, drowning”.

Fresh of the back of an appearance on Dave and Central Cee’s “Our 25th Birthday”, the singer-songwriter has returned to bless us with a Tokyo-shot visual for fan favourite from the EP, “crowded places”. The Alistair Mcveigh and Samuel Adjaye directed video is a visually striking and characterful effort, with Kamal. commenting:

“”crowded places” is a song I wrote about feeling lonely even in the busiest of places. When, regardless of all the surrounding noise, you shut yourself inside your head. Tokyo is one of the busiest cities in the world, but there is a lot of conversation about isolation, and seclusion within the younger population, so it made a lot of sense to shoot the video there.

“A lot of the video is shot in Shibuya crossing, the busiest crossing in the world, so that was ironically pretty anxiety inducing. But after we wrapped we played a great festival show in Yokohama and I was reminded that equally there’s a real intimacy that can be found in crowds.”
