Bringing the most exciting new names in the industry together, Coca-Cola champions emerging talent and the powerful effect that music can have through their global music platform COKE STUDIO™. With initiatives such as festival sponsorships, live performances, an augmented reality record store, and digital content, and more, they celebrate the magic of human connection — and how this can transcend borders and unite people all over the world.

Following the season’s debut track, “Be Who You Are (Real Magic)”, the studio’s second offering comes from rising stars Shae Gill and Evdeki Saat, who have teamed up on a collaborative single, “One Love”. Bringing together one of Turkey’s rising names in alternative pop and the voice behind the most streamed Pakistani song of all time, “One Love” represents a merge of cultures and musicalities.

“A global collaboration was something that I wanted to experience in my music career,” explains Saat. “I always love to connect with other musical cultures. Shae is a great representative of her culture, also a great musician and personality. I enjoyed the challenging process of our decision on making of the song.”

Gill adds, “The inspiration for the track was based around the themes of romance, new love and the open expression of love. It was a pleasure collaborating with him because he’s such a gifted and kind person. On top of that I felt like we made a lot of sense musically and that just made this collaboration all the more exciting.”

On the project as a whole, Pratik Thakar, Head of Global Strategy & Creative, explains: “True collaboration between artists from different cultures, genres and backgrounds, what we are calling creative ‘Collisions’, are at the heart of our COKE STUDIO platform”.

In total, the season will see work from the following artists and countries: Camilo (Colombia), NewJeans (Korea), J.I.D (US), Cat Burns (UK), Imagine Dragons (US), Sam Smith (UK), Afroto (Egypt), Diljit Dosanjh (India), Evdeki Saat (Turkey), Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (US), Nasty C (South Africa), Jessie Reyez (US), Shae Gill (Pakistan), Shreya Ghoshal (India), XIN LIU (China), and Zack Tabudlo (Philippines). The multi-artist songs embrace borderless collaboration and the ethos of the Coca-Cola brand.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Evdeki Saat and Shae Gill about their collaborative process, what initially drew them to COKE STUDIO, and their favourite Coca-Cola products.

Evdeki Saat:

How did you first get connected with Coke Studio?
I heard about the project before we got in touch. Coke Studio was always in my radar. Also last year, my friend, Ekin Beril was a participant of the project. So it made me give more attention.

When did you first start working on the song and what were its inspirations?
After getting matched, we talked with Shae on the phone. We discussed about how the song should be. Local Pakistani/Turkish and Afrobeat tunes were our inspirations.

Do you have a favourite memory from working on the collaboration?
Of course. The process of creating a song is always fun. I see it as a puzzle. Shae was also very nice. Every part of the project was really good. I learned a lot.

What is it about the Coca-Cola brand that resonates with you?
For me, it’s happiness.

Do you have a favourite Coca-Cola product?
Fanta 🙂 (if not Coca-Cola classic)

Shae Gill:

What initially drew you to the Coca-Cola brand and excited you about working with Coke Studio?
My past experience with Coke Studio was life changing and when Coca-Cola approached for Coke Studio Global, I was beyond excited!

How did you first get connected with Evdeki Saat and what was the collaborative process like?
I vibed with his music and next thing, he sent over some beats and we worked our way through the creation process from there. Josh Cumbee helped with the lyrics of the chorus and brought the track to life with his magic along with the team of producers!

What does this track mean to you?
Means the world to me!

What are you most excited for regarding its release?
I can’t wait for everyone to listen to the song and just dance away to it

Do you have a favourite Coca-Cola product?
Yes. My favourite Coca-Cola product is Fuze Tea (peach flavour)
