From the Tony Awards to beyond, this week had a plethora of powerful looks — making statements and doing so in style. Glittering golds, bold colours, and summery silhouettes are the perfect inspiration for the June heat, and we’ve put together our roundup of favourites. From Lupita’s freeing body armour, Latto’s touristy twist, and Kylie’s watercolour hues, Looks of the Week is here!

Armour

Lupita Nyong’o absolutely won the award for best dressed at the Tony Awards yesterday. It goes without saying, but the breastplate was the star of the show. Misha Japanwala, a Pakistani artist and fashion designer, created this piece by casting a mould of Lupita’s own body. Through her work, Japanwala celebrates the true human form and rejects external shame, empowering wearers to embrace the liberation of their own bodies. Like a piece of armour, the powerful silver piece protects Lupita’s freedom.

Latto Loves NY

Latto wore a matching, deconstructed I ❤️ NY set and we’re obsessed. Taking the classic kitschy motif and turning it into something deliberately over the top, fun, and even sexy, she makes a statement on stage and off. With knee-high fur boots and chunky silver jewellery, this look is really one for the books.

Seeing Double

Selena Gomez is glowing in a new series of images shared to her 421M Instagram followers. Wearing a Dior knit top with stripe detailing, she shows off a bit of a preppy side in Paris. With a long skirt, a simple black bag, and gold hoops, she looks effortlessly elegant. And — based on another post from her trip to Paris — it seems like she’ll be sharing new music sometime soon. Thank you, Miss Gomez!

Gold for gold

Alex Newell, along with J Harrison Ghee, made history at the Tony Awards as the first openly non-binary performer to win an award. And they looked incredible during this monumental moment. Dripping in shimmering gold, their off-the-shoulder gown and statement pendant necklace looked perfect with the award in their hands. “Thank you for seeing me, Broadway,” Alex said in their acceptance speech. “I should not be up here, as a queer, non-binary, fat, Black little baby from Massachusetts. To anyone who thinks they can’t do it… you can do anything you put your mind to.” We’re crying.

Summer watercolours

Kylie Jenner is pretty in pink tights as she promotes a new drop of Kylie Cosmetics. In a beautiful medley of colours, pinks and yellows and purples, she shines in front of a watercolour backdrop. Looking like a summer dream!
