PREMIERE: DAKOTA JONES — “COUNTDOWN”

The NY-based band premieres the fifth single off of their forthcoming sophomore album, with a video that celebrates summertime, youth, and joyful love.

The New York funk-soul band Dakota Jones is back on June 2 with their second album, Heartbreakers Space Club. We are excited to premiere the video for “Countdown”, the fifth single taken off of the upcoming album. The powerful and heartfelt track closes the album in a beautiful way, depicting the complex and dynamic concept of being in love in a simple, straightforward manner. To depict this in a visual way, the band worked with directors Rebecca Mendoza Mejia and Emmi Shockley, as well as a director of photography, Julian Alvarez. A warm, sunny, and joyful depiction of love, it shows the band with close friends in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. An ode to the simple, summer days of growing up, it gets us ready for the sunshine and reminds us that we still have that childlike love inside us all.

“Countdown” is Dakota Jones’ Tristan Carter-Jones’ favourite song on the album. “This song and video mean a hell of a lot to me,” she explains. “It’s a song about how love is bigger than everything, love conquers all the big bad feelings that come at you every day, it conquers all the big bad things around us. When you focus on love, things get a hell of a lot simpler.

Dakota Jones is the product of Tristan Carter-Jones on vocals, Scott Jet Kramp on bass, Steve Ross on drums, and Eddy Marshall on guitar. For eight years, they have experimented with and refined their sound, and this new project is the culmination. Timeless yet fresh, commanding yet intimate, Heartbreakers Space Club is out June 2.
