Sam Levinson is known for his world-building expertise, larger than life characters, and often raunchy storylines. Therefore, it hasn’t been a big surprise that the universe of The Idol bears resemblance to that of Euphoria — in visuals, places, and the somehow relatable yet over the top experiences. But what if we told you that the high school students and pop stars actually do exist in the same dimension?

At Cannes 2023, attendees saw a first look at The Idol, set to release on June 4. Between actors winning the red carpet and dancing at an afterparty, the drama series stole the show. At the premiere, attendees spotted a cameo from Alexa Demie, seemingly playing none other than her Euphoria character of Maddy Perez. Sam Levinson also confirmed that the two projects take place in the same universe, prompting fans to wonder if more of Euphoria’s stars will make appearances. Given Maddy is the only obvious choice for a student who hangs out with celebrities, we’re not sure we’ll see any other characters cross over into Lily-Rose Depp’s Joceyln’s territory. But then again, it’s Sam Levinson, so anything is possible.
