PREMIERE: BASIL PANAGOP – “SIX AM”

Multi-talented singer and songwriter blesses us with his latest single.

Writer, producer, artist and fashion designer, Basil Panagop, is back with another silky smooth, lo-fi bop. Paying homage to the likes of Frank Ocean, Brent Faye and Brockhampton, the artist blesses us with his latest release “Six AM”, off his latest album 6AM.

The track is raw and exceptionally poignant. Opening with grey, spiralling chords that trickle in to a poetic ballad around themes of depression, falling out of love with your own every day and hitting rock bottom. We’re introduced to the perspective of his family and loved ones watching from the outside, and how these feelings travel in waves from outside of our own existence.

Some shy away from addressing these sentiments, however Basil invites us to lean in to them, and heal with him through sleek synths and easing melodies. Raised by Greek parents, Basil grew up influenced by an extraordinary array of musical genres, including hip-hop, 80s pop, to 60s and 70s rock. Today, his sound lies within lo-fi melodic rap, which allows his honest and deeply personal lyrics to excel.

Having amassed over 1.8 million streams and performing internationally at festivals such as Endless Summer and Future Echoes, Basil’s future within lo-fi is beaming.
