YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB FT. TMDISTANT – “DID IT MY WAY”

The forward-thinking singer-songwriter and producer enlists the talents of the alternative riser for this new single.

YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB is pushing the boundaries of what it means to be an indie pop artist. With intelligent production and emotionally-charged narratives, the artist, who is based in both England and France, has displayed boundless creativity and an individualistic vocal nuance across her releases to date. She refuses to be boxed into a specific sound or genre, instead opining to float freely in her own creative realm. She unveiled her debut EP last year, entitled I Thought I Knew You, Boy I Was Wrong, which was most critically acclaimed and an illustration of her artistic progression.

A mere two months on from the release of her debut body of work, YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB has returned with “Did It My Way”, indicating her intentions to continue quickly rising through the industry’s ranks. The new track sees the singer enlist tmdistant, an Essex-based alternative artist who has also been standing out for his unique approach to creation, for an effervescent and emotional indie-pop anthem. The production is vibrant and striking, the perfect backdrop for the artists’ vocal chemistry and big performances. The songwriting is measured but expressive, as YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB embarks on a tale of realisation and defiance.

Talking on the release, YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB adds, “I guess I’m a nice person who always tries to help others out when I can and even when I can’t sometimes, and that really hasn’t worked out in my favour. People tend to take advantage of that and I know it. I used to let it slide, until recently, when I realised that I wouldn’t get where I want in life if I didn’t put myself first. This song is about that realisation”.
