Siena Liggins just keeps getting better. Shifting through sonic bliss, touching on genres as far ranging as hyper-pop and hip hop, there’s seemingly no end to her creativity, as she beckons in an artistic resonance that improves with every passing release. Her sound is spirality and sultry, but textured and condensed, a forward-thinking creative with a message that she’s not opposed to relay.

Following the release of unforgettable offering “3 Bad”, the singer-songwriter has once again returned with a heavy-hitting single, this time entitled “Sneaky Links”, stealing the attention of listeners with the powerful new single. Borrowing the lyrical talent and vocal charisma of Mk xyz for a effortless, broody feature that is packed with tonal nuances and intelligent writing, Liggins impresses with her soaring vocals, augmenting the instrumental that boasts hard hitting percussion, slick bass and ethereal synths. The song will feature on her highly anticipated new album, Floozy.

Who and what influences you to create?
I’m constantly influenced by the nuances of my day-to-day. This past year saw a lot of people transition out of my life and I called it my “year of divorces”. Feelings surrounding love, companionship, sex, insecurity, and desire are reflected in my songwriting and artistry because I use my music to document my journey.

How did you first find your love for music?
I fell in love with music because I was looking for something to call my own that would set me apart. My parents played basketball. My friends were boy crazy. I was fantasising and manifesting a future through songwriting. Once I started to let people listen to the songs and they were good, I fell in love with creating.

Why is music so important to your life?
Music is just one aspect of how I can have creative release. It’s one piece of the puzzle when it comes to what is ultimately important in my life: connection. There are few better feelings than knowing that these little diddlies I wrote can conjure an audience of like me.

How did you find your sound?
I had to try on a lot of different costumes to find my sound through collaboration and being willing to experiment sonically. I had to be comfortable with my weaknesses as much as I embraced the qualities of my voice and style that I recognise as strengths. That work created confidence so now I know my lane and where it can go.

How would you describe the essence of your sound?
I would describe my sound as refreshingly unexpected, universal, and delectable. If you enjoy catchy melodies and lyrics that make you move, it’s extremely satisfying like dessert or climax.

What was been the best moment of your career to date?
Honestly, every day it’s something new, but there’s never a better way to end my day than knowing I connected with someone and made their day with my songs– whether that be on stage or online.

What are you trying to convey with the latest offering, “Sneaky Links”?
“Sneaky Links” is meant to highlight the ironically undignified yet widely praised culture of hooking up. Told from my perspective, I wanted to reclaim the stigma for women owning their sexuality even when it’s toxic because it’s practically inescapable in our society. We all get lonely. We all want to be desired. We all go to lengths to get what we want. This song is so sexy to me because it doesn’t apologise for what’s done in the dark.

What was the creative process of the track?
There was a lot of back and forth on this song, truth be told. Everyone had amazing ideas and it wasn’t always easy narrowing them down. Ultimately, I love the way Matias Mora’s production interprets my feelings about situationships– tense, hollow, intuitive– and MK xyz’s energy balances them perfectly.

What can we expect from your upcoming album Floozy?
Expect Floozy to feel like an evolution of Siena Liggins. It’s all new material, but my essence will always be there. I put all of me into this project and everyone who has been along to watch will feel the growth and hopefully, appreciate the vision. The sound is fresh, the words are honest, the sentiment is love, and the visuals are killer.

Why do you feel that now is the right time to release an album?
A lot of the songs on my album were written amidst dealing with heartbreak which has been full of ups and downs. This album has really become one of the ups for me. Realising the role creativity plays in letting go has been liberating to say the least and I’m so ready to move on. I see it as a bonus if the songs resonate with even one person.

What else is to come from you?
Stay tuned. I’ve got a summer of festivals lined up and fingers crossed for tour in the fall. All in all, more life, more love, and more bops on the way. The album drops this summer.
