PREMIERE: ROWAN FLACK – “TIPSY ON THE TONGUE”

The rising contemporary jazz soulstress returns with another rich, resonant and reminiscent single.

South London singer-songwriter Rowan Flack is quickly becoming a key figure in the UK jazz and soul renaissance. Weaving in elements of pop, indie and folk into her intricate, expressive sound, Flack is becoming renowned for her thought-provoking lyrical approach and seamlessly smooth instrumentality. A former Brit school student, the artist has an impressive musical education and is building a discography to do it justice, not least with her newest cut, “Tipsy On The Tongue”.

The new single sees Flack at her textured best. Dreamy keys, groovy bass and breezy percussion build a silky smooth and funky backdrop for Flack to deliver a laidback, sultry vocal performance, gliding atop the vibe-laden beat with assured nuanced. Lyrically, the songwriter flaunts her focus in her craft, with themes of self-reflection, love and communication all apparent.

Speaking on the track, Rowan adds: “The music is inspired mainly by relationships. As I have gotten to this stage of my life, I am constantly discovering different flaws and blessings in myself and my personality. I tend to lean towards writing about communication and personal experience.” With the lyrics showing a vulnerability to the artist. “Tipsy On The Tongue” focuses on the flaws of my personality and self-awareness during an argument and how two people’s love languages don’t always align.”
