Hot on the heels of the Met Gala, this week saw some incredible style. Between Rachel Zelger’s birthday, Rita Ora’s promotion week for her newest single, “Praising You”, and Sabrina Carpenter’s Toronto show, events were plentiful — with all the fits to match. Featuring long jean shorts, monochrome sets, and tons of sports team pride, there was an emphasis on the effortlessly elegant and refined-relaxed. Head below for our Looks of the Week!

It’s all in the details

Rita Ora spent a week promoting “Praising You” as the third most added song in the U.S., and posted her own roundup of some killer looks. Between matching leather looks and casual camo, it’s hard to pick a favourite, but these are some of our top picks. Her double denim ensemble (plus a matching bag!) is elevated by the jacket’s collar and little intricate heels peeking out of the long jeans. With orange sunglasses, the casually refined look is the perfect day-to-night outfit.

She continues embracing the too-long jeans style with another incredible look, wearing them under a lace slip dress and cropped leather jacket with fur. Again with statement glasses, she spares no details as she matched her heels perfectly to her jeans. We of course can’t fail to mention the double jeans. Low rise bedazzled jeans appear to be covered from the zipper down by khaki-coloured ones, creating a slouchy drop waist look. Exaggerated by a cropped black turtleneck, they are the star of the show.

Singing the blues

Jabari Banks stuns in blue in an Instagram post. Somewhere between long shorts and capris, the Off White jeans add a darker shade of the hue to bright Louis Vuitton sneakers and a two-toned Dallas Cowboy t-shirt. Topped off with a crystal-esque chain and cross pendant, silver statement sunglasses, and — the best part — a Hello Kitty keychain, the look is springtime perfection. While some comments express their desire for the shoes or question if long jorts are back, the majority are debating the Philadelphia-native’s choice of American football team. In response, Banks commented “chill it’s just a shirt”. With a killer look like that, it’ll never be just a shirt.

Feeling 22

Happy Birthday! Rachel Zegler celebrated her 22nd year dancing in neon monochrome. A billowing open button down is layered over a bralette, tucked into shorts, and paired with open-toed heels — creating a formal yet playful look. Equal parts refined and relaxed, she looks absolutely beautiful. “#happyfreeconfusedandlonely”, she captions the post, with a swipe to a classic Modern Family meme reading “Key to a good birthday? Low expectations”. We hope her day was better than all her wildest dreams!

Silvers and golds, crosses and pearls!

Paloma Elsesser always looks incredible, and her Met Gala afterparty look was no exception. The focal point of the fit was a top by Chris Habana that read as part halter top, part necklace. She absolutely shimmered as chains and custom cast crosses of silver, gold, and pearls draped across her torso. Paired with simple black trousers, sleek side bangs, and opaque sunglasses, she stole the show.

Cool contouring

Yara Shahidi shared some photos from a Met Gala afterparty and her Jean Paul Gaultier look was unreal. The matching skin-tight set features a long sleeve top and floor-length skirt, and almost reads like a topographic map. Lines of varying thickness and shape are drawn in coordination with the body, contouring curves in an innovative and avant garde way. Shahidi poses with Billie Eilish, contrasting with Billie’s colourful New York Knicks hat and matching LỰU ĐẠN jacket, as well as with Phoebe “Pojo” Joseph and Aires Amor. Pojo’s low rise jeans and cropped one-shoulder green top, embellished with sequins, also deserves a round of applause.

The third sports team mentioned this week, the Toronto Maple Leaves got a special shout out at Sabrina Carpenter’s Toronto performance. With an oversized jersey, brown leather boots, long denim shorts, heart nails, and windblown hair, she proves yet again that she is the master of effortless style. We have loved seeing all her emails i can’t send tour style, which wraps its U.S. leg this month. Luckily she’ll be touring Europe through the summer, so we don’t have to say goodbye to her on-stage style just yet.

The Queen in McQueen

Kicking off her RENAISSANCE World Tour in Stockholm, Beyoncé stepped onto the stage and wowed the crowd in custom Alexander McQueen. The design House reimagined a look from their Fall 2023 collection to create an enchanting metallic catsuit. Sparkly and powerful, it’s the perfect start to a show full of shimmering looks.
