PREMIERE: LABIT — “KAZUNORI”

The versatile artist releases a new music video for his second single of the year, off his upcoming debut album.

Based in Los Angeles, Stephen Ordoñez is the multi-instrumental singer-songwriter, producer, and artist behind Labit. With this project, he experiments with creative concepts through avant garde melodies and his reliably strong vocal range and guitar skills. With an upcoming 10-track debut album, i bet it’s all a dream, Labit is preparing to grace the world with bold songwriting and a chill R&B-pop masterpiece.

Labit has released the music video for his second single of the year and the fifth from the debut album, “Kazunori”. In a story of both regret and acceptance, his vulnerable and touching lyrics look to the past and contemplate how a situation could have potentially unfolded differently. The video shows Labit watching a film reel of a past lover, then joining her in the middle of the desert. The two are close in proximity but far removed from one another emotionally. Executive produced and directed by Mara Whitehead, it adds a cinematic dimension to the track’s struggle between finding peace with moving on and holding onto confusion and regret for what could have been.

“In this song, I reflect on a dinner date gone wrong, wondering if it ever could’ve gone right,” Labit explains. “But I’ve learned through time that if there are too many hoops to jump through, then maybe what you thought something was supposed to be just isn’t what it is. Sometimes, it’s best to keep your tongue in your mouth. By the way, Kazunori is the best hand roll bar in LA. And this isn’t an ad — but it can be…”
