PREMIERE: DILAN SKIES – “I’M NOT HIM”

The British-Indian singer-songwriter and producer has returned with his latest vibrant offering.

Born and raised in North West London, DILAN SKIES grew up on a diet of an assortment of the biggest pop stars around. Craig David, Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake are a big influence to the artist, but his Indians roots also saw him exposed to a lot of Bollywood and Punjabi music at a young age. This disparate melting pot of influence have shaped SKIES artistry, who delivers a sound that blends pop and R&B with effortless ease. The message of the music oft revolves around positivity, with DILAN aiming to be as inclusive as possible, putting his own spin on stories of others and telling personal tales.

Having gained hype for his 2020 cut ‘Not Over You”, the singer has been on a musical journey over the past few years, progressing his sound and refining his approach. The artist has now retuned with his latest colourful offering, “I’m Not Him”. Co-produced by SKIES himself and PR Beats, the consuming soundscape is hazy and bursting with vitality, with the pair finding a sonic aesthetic and sticking with it. For the track, SKIES wanted to delve deeper into love, with the song born out of a conversation with a friend who was going for a break up, using her past relationship as a shield against potential future happiness.

Talking on the single, DILAN SKIES comments, “I wrote the song from the perspective of being the one to show her that not all relationships are like her previous one”.
