WTRGRL – “HEROINE”

Melding mainstream pop with underground club music, the multi-talent shares an empowering new single, the first glimpse into her debut EP.

Swedish-Mexican-American producer, drummer and songwriter, Chloe Saavedra, is branching out with her first self-fronted project. In 2021, the multi-talent released her first song as WTRGRL, entitled “Party Alone” which amounted 132k streams. Fresh from touring as a member of Caroline Polachek’s band supporting for Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia Tour, Saavedra found the freedom to pursue her own vision, explaining “While I love catering to what another artist wants, I am finally confident enough and ready to pursue my own project”.

WTRGRL achieves a fine balance of soft ethereal and hardcore electronic music within the backbone of mainstream pop. In her new single, “HEROINE”, Chloe collaborates with Oakland-based producer, Clearcast to create a song about embracing resilience in the face of adversity. The music video for the dazzling offering reflects the process of overcoming battles, Chloe is portrayed as a heroine holding an axe as well as a doppelgänger who acts as the enemy. The artist’s performance of both the heroine and the beast character poses the question of whether the conflict she sings about is internal or external.

With this newfound freedom and the talent to match, we can’t wait to see what Chloe brings us in the future.
