VIDEO PREMIERE: METTE – “MAMA’S EYES”

The multi-talent augments her dazzling recent single with a slick and serene visual accompaniment.

METTE is a creative powerhouse excelling across multiple fields. From being a long standing member of Pharrell’s dance troupe ‘The Baes’ to starring in Jennifer Lopez’ popular hit film Hustlers and cementing her presence in pop culture as the star of N.E.R.D and Rihanna’s “Lemon” video, Mette has proven herself in the performance hemisphere, whilst simultaneously building a career as a musical artist.

The singer truly made her mark on the music industry with her single “Mama’s Eyes”; released back in February, the track is a stunning concoction of R&B, soul and pop tendencies, with METTE illustrating a soaring vocality that is rich and individualistic. The visual is directed by Bangkok-born, Nepal-raised and now Paris-based visionary Camille Summers-Valli, who has achieved success with a wide ranging array of visual projects from music videos, high-end fashion shorts and art films. The striking choreography heightens the sonic magnetism, with home recordings of METTE singing and dancing offering an air of nostalgia.

METTE comments, “”Mama’s Eyes” music video is a celebration of my beloved artist journey… It’s a window into my coming of age story – how I’ve found music, dance, and performance to be an outlet of self expression and a divine sense of belonging. The richness of this visual is in its abstraction of the song’s theme of “mothering”… Dance is fundamental for me because movement is the first language I learned as a child and has played such a vital role in my personal and professional development. Performing movement to my lyrics and vocals was a homecoming of sorts. Being a subject of Camille’s brilliant directorial leadership, through her lens I found a sense of kinship with my inner child and the artist I am today”.
