DOV has had a striking and powerful journey. The son of a left wing political activist, DOV migrated from Tel Aviv to NYC after struggling with living the life he wished for as a queer liberal artist. Reinvented as DOV in 2017 in Brooklyn, the artist’s sound is a fluid and empowering take on alt pop, with his writing a powerful representation of his life as a queer and Jewish immigrant.

The original version of “Something Beautiful” is a vibrant, resonant and memorable number from rising singer-songwriter Chinwe. The new remix that has now been released by DOV is a augmentation of Chinwe’s track, with the producer showcasing his technical craft as well as ability to perfectly encapsulate atmosphere. Brooding but bright, DOV’s reinvention is consuming and colourful, bringing out the best of Chinwe’s gorgeous vocality, whilst putting his own spin on the emotional impact of the cut, with sharp percussion and hazy synths the picturesque backdrop for Chinwe’s unique tone and lyrical musings.

Speaking on the remix of “Something Beautiful”, DOV explains, “Chinwe’s original song has something “sweet and smooth” about it and the production is more on the chill vibe. When me and Chinwe talked about doing a remix for the song I knew that I wanted to give it a whole new interpretation “DOV’s way” and through that show the power of production and how a different production can take the song to a totally different place.”
