Since emerging back in 2019, Alex Maes & The Connection have been catching the ear of scores of fans with their sound that merges the sensibilities of R&B and jazz into an immersive, engrossing and intelligent sound. Lead singer Alex Maes has proven herself to be a strong and fluid writer, with sharp narratives that provide engagement and interest.

The band have now unveiled their debut EP; entitled The People We Thought We Knew, the body of work is a nuanced showcase of the songwriting and instrumental talent of the group. The EP was recorded by Brian DiMaio who is a Grammy-nominated recording engineer, with production led by Maes herself with the help of Sean Mclaughlin for vocal production. The tone of the EP is smooth and seamless, with condensed groove-laden instrumental the backdrop for Maes to impress with her vocal ability and sharp songwriting.
