PREMIERE: PABLO KUSH — “TOXIC TRAITS”

The rapper and producer’s new music video meshes his Irish hip-hop with a New York scene, bringing us into his unique world.

Pablo Kush, a rapper and producer from Ireland, has released a new music video accompanying his song “TOXIC TRAITS”. Following the success of his previous album, THE IRISH CONNECTION, “TOXIC TRAITS” does not disappoint. The song begins with an intro of enticing, mystical beats, before Pablo comes in full force with a strong, commanding, steady voice. It details various toxic environments and his journey to healing. Hip hop sprinkled with echoes and whispers, “TOXIC TRAITS” takes its listeners on a journey. It builds and breaks, always keeping us on our toes and up ready to dance.

The video, shot in New York, was written, directed, and performed by Pablo himself. Reminiscent of 90’s music videos, it gives us a glimpse into the artist’s world — jumping over subway gates, cruising in cars, sporting a multitude of designer looks. Walking past several characteristically New York spots, from a Halal food truck to a classic deli, he seamlessly weaves the city with his Irish hip-hop sound. Shot and edited by Dan Pingdon, the video uses compelling typography and plays with camera angles and transitions to the beat of the song, keeping the audience highly engaged. We see Pablo enjoying himself as he sings, and it’s hard not to join in.
