“The Art of Craftsmanship” brings together renowned photographer Tim Walker and Italian luxury design group TOD’s in a celebration of design. Leading traditional craft and quality into the contemporary, creative world, it marks a new future for luxury fashion.

Tracing the production process of TOD’s iconic products, such as the Di Bag and the Gommino, Walker tells the story of how a piece is crafted. Using exaggerated proportions and surreal imagery, he reminds us of the care, expertise, and human touch behind each product you see in stores. With his unparalleled dreamy creativity, he depicts various stages of the creation, from cutting the leather to stitching.

In a highly technological climate where machines create so much of our everyday products, it is more important than ever to highlight the intricate craftsmanship that can only be achieved by experts in the field. “In this increasingly digital world,” says Tim Walker, “the value of craftsmanship is increasingly precious”. He uses his art to showcase this importance and reach a younger audience, as trends point towards a newfound appreciation of quality amongst the oversaturation of fast-fashion and its negative impact on the environment.

“Italian lifestyle and exceptional craftsmanship are core values for Tod’s and having them interpreted by Tim Walker allows us to convey these values also to the young generations, speaking their language” states Diego Della Valle, President and CEO of TOD’s Group.

“The Art of Craftsmanship” opens to the public from the evening of the 19th April until the 22nd April at the Cavallerizze of the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo Da Vinci in Milan. The photography series will then travel around the world throughout the year.
