JAKE HUFFMAN – “BABE”

The instrumentalist and songwriter flaunts his progression and potential on potent new solo single “Babe”.

Perhaps best known for his work as lead vocalist and drummer in popular alternate rock band McLovins, Jake Huffman has shared stages with the likes of Blink 182, Foster The People, BB King and The Flaming Lips. Connecticut born and raised, the multi-instrumentalist has taken the leap into solo artistry in recent times, sharpening his songwriting craft having laid down the foundations for his own success since appearing with his band at the age of 14. Projecting a nuanced approach that borders indie pop and alt rock, Huffman is a rare breed of artist that writes, performs and produces his own work in its entirety.

Plucked from his anticipated upcoming EP, Huffman has unveiled his latest single release “Babe”, and it’s an impressive effort. The single was created when the artist fell down a fruitful rabbit hole of pop, rock and funk music. The translucent yet upbeat soundscape of the cut brings a dream-like, euphoric energy that the singer matches with his vocal performance. Thematically, there is mystery and vibrance to the narrative, as Huffman keeps it vague, encouraging listeners to make up their own mind on what the message comes down to,

Speaking on the new release, Huffman comments: “I didn’t want to cloud the energy of the song by over-thinking the lyrics or trying to insert deeper meaning into the song. It’s my opinion that some surface level situations end up more significant overtime. The song was created by chasing that feeling, what’s interesting is even now when I listen back I find more nuance than I originally intended.”

With scores of new music set to drop this year, Jake Huffman looks set to continue to rise in acclaim and popularity in the coming months.
