PREMIERE: TILLY VALENTINE — “STATUE”

The independent artist’s first release of the year is bound to tug at your heartstrings.

Independent rising artist, Tilly Valentine, has gone from honing her craft at The BRIT School to truly developing her own sound. A mix of mellow soundscapes with soulful pop, her music simultaneously makes you want to curl up with a book and sing at the top of your lungs on a long drive.

Her new single, “Statue”, is no exception. Sadness, hope, fragility, and strength intertwine to create a bittersweet anthem that tugs at our heartstrings. With intimate vocals and intricate production, Tilly tells a story of a romantic sacrifice. “‘Statue’ is about meeting the right person at the wrong time, but promising to wait for them until it’s right,” she explains. You can hear the raw emotion in Tilly’s voice as if she’s right next to you.

Her honesty is captured in her vocals and songwriting, further amplified through the accompanying piano from Conor Albert. She takes it to the next level in the music video for “Statue”, where she sings to the camera — and deep into our souls — in an empty room.

The Oxfordshire-born, London-based artist has already landed airtime with “Statue” on BBC Radio 1 and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Tilly Valentine.
