Growing up in Toronto, Alexander began his career on Youtube, singing covers of pop anthems by artists such as Charlie Puth and Camilla Cabello. After school, he packed up his bags and moved to Los Angeles, where he is currently based, to develop his songwriting skills and sound. Since he released his first single in 2020, Alexander’s fanbase has grown exponentially and his career has reached new levels. He is set to tour through the UK and EU in May 2023, and then spend the summer opening for Charlie Puth on his US tour.

“Leave Me in the Dark” is a heartfelt, heart wrenching story about the betrayal and breakdown of a relationship. As the song builds, it explodes into a pleading chorus that highlights Alexander’s enticing vocal range and vulnerable songwriting skills. Inspired by the bold pop of Lady Gaga and the romanticism of Sam Smith, Alexander effortlessly combines strong beats, powerful production, and soulful lyrics into two and a half minutes of breathtaking pop.

Equally as heart wrenching as the single, the music video is also out now. It follows Alexander and a struggling couple through their hardships. One half of the couple is consistently blindfolded, and we are able to see from the outside how the power imbalance leads to miscommunication. It touches on all the themes of “Leave Me in the Dark” and exemplifies the message through visuals.

We are already eager for more of what Alexander Stewart has in store and hope he won’t leave us in the dark for long.
