And now for the interview…

Hey Chloé! Where are we speaking to you from?
I’m taking some time off right now and have escaped to the French Mountains with my family and some close friends. I’m currently sitting on my apartment’s balcony taking in some fresh air and trying to enjoy every moment of this peaceful place before I hit the road again.

What’s the first thing you thought about this morning?
I had a song stuck in my head all night and I had to figure out what the track was. It ended up being ‘We Got to Hit It Off’ by Millie Jackson, it’s so good!

Did you always know that you wanted to be a DJ? Or, was there a moment of revelation?
Not at all, I first wanted to be in a band and play guitar. DJing came a lot later, but it was an amazing way to combine music and performing.

Who are some artists that you think have influenced your sound the most?
There are so many artists that have inspired me throughout my life and career. The band that has inspired me the most is Pink Floyd. The legendary Giorgio Moroder that has contributed to so much and to so many different artists, which has really inspired me. I’m a huge Diana Ross fan, I love the band ESG, I’m also a huge David Bowie fan. He’s had such an interesting career, constantly reinventing himself and sharing his creativity with the world. Another artist that really inspired me was Andrew Weatherhall. Seeing him play in New York eight years ago made me really want to become a DJ and play music. Also DJ Harvey, Grace Jones, and the list goes on, it’s very hard to narrow it down.

You recently released “Know Now” along with Poté. How does your process differ when you collaborate with others?
When I work with other artists, the most important part is really understanding them in the short amount of time you have together. I really loved working with Poté because he was a friend of mine, and our collaboration happened very organically. When we were working on “Know Now,” we were going through the same things emotionally, so it was very easy to align creatively. When I collaborate with another artist, I spend more time to get to know them to find the middle ground which we are both going to be comfortable with.

If you could give any advice to young DJs starting out, what would it be?
I would say really go for it, don’t be afraid, go out, listen to music, read, research, just dive into it fully. In the current time we are living in, it’s very easy for us to get distracted so it’s important to really have a strong work ethic but to also get inspired by everything around you. There are so many exciting things happening in the world, so many different places to draw inspiration from.

And lastly, where do you see yourself headed? In three years time, what do you envision?
In three years time, I really hope to have my album out to the world and to really go down a lane where I can perform my music live, heading back to my roots as a band member. As I continue to grow as an artist, I would also like to further showcase the positive impact of dance in our holistic wellbeing, especially through the music I make and during my live shows. Dancing has always helped me destress and feel present, so inspiring more people to dance is my ultimate goal as a performer.
