Rodriguez Jr. is a stalwart of the electronic music community. A name who has spent over 20 years in the industry, the producer is dedicated to progressing his sound and pushing the boundaries of genre, settling into the role of visionary amongst the house and techno scenes. He was mentored by the infamous Laurent Garnier, and over the years has refined a sound that is vital and vibrant. Renowned for his forward thinking style of production and encompassing musicality, Rodriguez has built himself a legacy in the industry, which looks set to augment itself further with news of an upcoming album. Set for release on 26th May, the album will be an extensive foray into the artistry and mindset of the artist. Recorded over the course of two years, it marks a new chapter for Rodriguez Jr. It will feature Italian talent Giorgia Angiuli, English hip hop / electronica crossover group Stereo MC’s, as well as Cuban American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liset Alea, with the latter’s collaboration, “Amplify”, now unveiled as a teaser single in the build up towards the album release.
The new offering is a trance-infused, atmospheric bundle of intricacy, with the signature house sound of Rodriguez Jr. combining fruitfully with the ethereal vocality of Alea. On the track, the singer added, “Written in lock-down Paris, a time of deep reflection and dreams of escape, I kept asking myself what takes me beyond the craziness of this world, what makes me vibrate at a higher frequency, what amplifies me? Whatever guarantees my goosebumps, it is definitely sacred and worth writing a song about”.
As we wait for the new album, Rodriguez gives us some insight into what to expect, commenting, “Now more than ever, I feel the urgency to explore different formats and genres. Twenty-five years of experience in music production and thousands of shows for diverse audiences allover the world has taught me that the unpredictable is often at the core of every achievement, especially today when dance music has become so formatted. The album is a pivot towards a new chapter of my life and carries the personal alchemy that I seek in my live shows; oscillating between dreamy melodies, ethereal textures and kinetic beats.”
