The nascent indie-pop star unveils a searing new EP as an ode to their transness.

Meet whatever mike, the rising indie pop artist who is taking the music world for a ride. Wielding an impressive career that spans from major label releases to independent artistry, whatever mike has captured the ears of fans and critics alike.

Their debut single, “Manufactured Love,” catapulted whatever mike into the spotlight. Racketing to #6 on the Spotify Viral chart, and gaining 20M+ streams, they began to carve out a space for themselves in the industry. That said, the pandemic brought about a new chapter for the rising star. They spent their time in the Joshua Tree desert of Southern California, cultivating their latest EP, “Word to the Trees.” During this time, they left their label, became a dedicated daily meditator, and came out as a trans person.
