FENDI

The house debuts an ode to Delfina Delettrez Fendi with its archival-inspired Autumn/Winter 2023 collection.

Artistic director Kim Jones paints a picture of elegance with Fendi’s latest collection. Looking to Delfina Delettrez Fendi for inspiration, her unparalleled self-expression, and subversive style form the foundation of this collection.

Playing with the notion of a binary, this AW23 collection contains multitudes. From the elevation of deconstruction, and the interpolation gendered archetypes, to uncanny ‘ladylike’ sophistication — this collection subverts what is means to self-express.

Appropriating masculine tailoring, these aesthetics are shaped into feminine forms — embellished with utilitarian details; we see aprons, uniforms, and boiler suits. Otherwise delicate lace is subverted through layers and lacquer — through which fetishism glimpses through. Whether through lingerie or knee-high boots, there’s a sense of transient titillation.

Punk is another aesthetic that prevails in the collection. Knitwear is distorted, either through straight slashes or gentle manipulation. Shrunken, unbuttoned, awry — there’s a ‘deconstructed luxury’ in Jones’ eyes.

Fendi also introduces a new handbag, the Multi — which heralds the multipurpose functionality at the core of the house. The Autumn/Winter 2023 collection looks to the past to create the future – and we’re completely spellbound!
