KARL LAGERFELD × DISNEY 100 YEARS OF WONDER

In light of Disney’s centenary, a nostalgic capsule collection is unearthed by the two brands.

Both Disney and Karl Lagerfeld are legacy cultural forces, so it makes sense that the two would come together for the former’s 100 Years of Wonder.

And, what better way to herald in a century of Disney than a capsule collection that carries the thread of Lagerfeld’s legacy? This isn’t the first time Disney and Lagerfeld have come together to create magic, with their last collaboration dating back to 2004. In the sparking off of Donald Duck’s 70th anniversary, Lagerfeld was fully involved. In fact, the design powerhouse’s introduction to the Arts was by means of illustration. Inspired by the spellbinding artistic prowess of Disney films, this would culminate in an ultra-rare sketch of Donald Duck by Lagerfeld himself.

Re-contextualizing this drawing in the wake of the designer’s death, the Karl Lagerfeld x Disney 100 Years of Wonder capsule collection features Donald Duck donning Lagerfeld’s signature look. Whether it’s peeking out of pockets on t-shirts, smack bang in the middle of jumpers, or gracing bomber jackets – the whole collection calls to mind Lagerfeld’s spirited sophistication. Playing off of Disney’s dreamworld, the capsule comes along with fanciful accessories to boot.

Playful, yet refined – this collaboration is a triumph. Set to be up for grabs on the 23rd of February, on KARL.COM, and selected retailers worldwide – keep your eyes peeled.
