This isn’t the first time Kvadrat and Raf Simons have joined forces. This time around, they’re evolving a whole host of lifestyle accessories that redefine how we live — creating beauty from order.
When Raf Simons dreamed up the Shaker concept, he brought to mind a complete habitat. Heralding utility and function, rethinking materials — and bringing a sense of artistic value to the home — the idea is that these objects are ever-evolving.
Building on the first collection, which centred on the living room and points of entry, this collection focuses on the bathroom. With bathrobes, towels, toiletry bags, slippers, and clutches all up for grabs — the collection is brought over the edge with a flagship store in Copenhagen.
Using the highest quality materials, and offering up multi-purpose products, leisurely bathrobes and beach towels are crafted from the finest tweet cotton. With sourced super-soft cashmere, and artisanal rippled surface fabrics — the attention to detail evokes the sartorial detailing of Simons’ fashion collections.
Reflecting on the collection Simons imparts: “From the outset of this project I wanted the products to relate to each other, one way or another, and also to be bound together conceptually. For instance, there is a really good toiletry bag, designed not as a single product but as part of the family of accessories. It seems like quite a project now and it’s a project that is supposed to always keep growing.”
Wielding the past to take us to the future, the Shaker system is a reflection of Simons’ desire to build a new means of living. Informed by both historical and classical references, while being technically innovative — this new collaboration transcends the notion of design with a united vision.
