“Keep It” by Kid Culture is an impressive debut single that showcases the artist’s undeniable talent and creativity. With a background in producing and co-writing chart-topping hits for big names in the industry such as Justin Bieber, Cordae, Eminem, and more, Kid Culture has made a name for himself in the music scene and is now officially introducing himself to the world as a solo artist.
The track reflects Kid Culture’s unique style, which is rooted in both old-school crate digging and 21st century attitude. The shimmering soundscapes architected with ethereal beats and glossy synths create a dreamy and atmospheric backdrop that sets the tone for the song. Above this glistening backdrop, his lyrics evoke memorable imagery as he sings, “I left my heart in your glove compartment.” The lyrics are relatable and catchy, making it easy to sing along. Meanwhile, he locks into a call-and-response with an old-school sample on the chorus, “All of your problems girl, I don’t want any part…you can keep it.” The old-school sample adds a touch of nostalgia and gives the track a unique and refreshing sound.
Kid Culture is no stranger to the music industry. Growing up in the small town of Federal Way, WA, he wholeheartedly embraced music at a young age by way of his parents. His dad always kept a studio in the house where Kid Culture learned how to write and produce. He developed his stage presence by playing drums in front of the church congregation where his father sang and preached. Classics such as Kanye West’s Late Registration soundtracked his formative years everywhere from the car to the skate park. Eventually, he immersed himself in beat-craft. Rather than start on a laptop, he cooked up his very first productions on a vintage keyboard with a floppy disc. His journey twisted and turned. During high school, he wound up in Los Angeles, co-writing and producing for some of the biggest names in the world, including Justin Bieber, Cordae, Stevie Wonder, Anderson .Paak, Ty Dolla $ign, Eminem, Miguel, Terrace Martin, and more.
This single is just a taste of what’s to come from Kid Culture in 2023, as he’s currently working on a debut album that is sure to make waves in the industry. The album will be released via Epic Records and Vol 1 Records, and fans can expect to hear more of Kid Culture’s signature style in the upcoming project. Overall, “Keep It” is a must-listen for fans of old-school vibes and 21st century attitude. With a unique sound and relatable lyrics, Kid Culture is definitely an artist to keep an eye on in the coming year.
