COLMAR REVOLUTION

The label joins forces with designer Yosuke Aizawa to dream up a collection of action-ready outerwear.

Since its debut, Colmar has emerged as one of the fashion industry’s shining stars. Renowned for its finest quality outerwear, equipped to withstand all kinds of weather – it’s infused with an undeniably chic edge. Bringing acclaimed designer Yosuke Aizawa of White Mountaineering into the equation for its latest Colmar Revolution collection, the two made magic. This isn’t the first meeting of minds between the two, as the powerhouses first collaborated two years ago for the Mountaineering x Colmar A.G.E. collection. With their two aesthetics and sensibilities becoming one, their designs turn out a dream.

Carrying the thread of collaboration, their latest collection heralds the joint brands’ love of snow and outdoor activities. Colmar is a heritage label, founded exactly a century ago in 1923, while Aizawa’s brand White Mountaineering was established later, in 2006. Aizawa has always drawn inspiration from his lineage, especially his father’s roots – which are grounded in the Japanese city of Fussa. Situated near an American base, there’s a Western sensibility that emerges from Aizawa’s designs. Melding together references to American heritage with updated modern fabrics, Aizawa fashion education as the protege of avant-garde icon Junya Watanabe served him well.

The Colmar Revolution collection is a stellar example of design. Featuring quilted puffer jackets, fleece sweats, and knitwear – the collection evolves its predecessor. Spurred on by spontaneous conversations, there’s a focus on verve for the outdoors, technical expertise, and versatile pieces that function in the city as well as they do outdoors.

The CEO of Colmar, Giulio Colombo, chimed in expressing that, “We asked Yosuke Aizawa to work with us again as our past experience made us realise that we had potential for a deeper collaboration” and that the resulting collection is, “an innovative collection, where our company’s 100 year experience blends with Aizawa’s contemporary, technical vision.”

The Colmar Revolution collection is a triumph. Consisting of both menswear and womenswear pieces, the range debuted for Fall/Winter 2023 – through an exclusive presentation in Milan.
