MIIA and the music industry go way back. Dreaming up pop songs since she was a tender teen, she’s already notched some breakout hits onto her belt. Following a visit to LA at 14, she was immediately signed – and the rest was history. One of said breakout hits is “Dynasty”, released in 2016, which lit the world on fire. Premiering on the Billboard chart, and amassing over a million streams in a mere 23 days – this success was the catalyst for MIIA’s dreams to unfold.

Coming back to bite, MIIA embarks on a new chapter – a sparkling new EP. Leading the way of this metamorphosis is the chosen single “Oxide”. Sweeping and searing, a tentative piano gently opens the song. Paving the way for the artist’s silky smooth vocals, the raw quality to her voice is irresistibly captivating. Meandering between upper and lower registers, “Oxide” lays out MIIA’s stellar vocal chops for all to see. At once defiant yet vulnerable, this new track infuses the current popscape with a much needed grandiosity.

The perfect company to those biting winter nights, MIIA views “Oxide” as a means to bring together her past and present. Reflecting on how the track came to be, she notes: “I wrote ‘Oxide’ in the winter, up in the mountains of Norway; my favorite place on earth. At that point, after a year of therapy and hibernation, I was at a very peaceful point in my healing process. I was finally able to write about something that had weighed on me for a long time. I love my father, more than I think he or anyone else will ever understand. But, relationships are complex. This song is the voice of my inner child. I had to write this song for her. The hurt never truly went away. So I had to write them down. My biggest hope is that hurt can, through honesty, become healing.”

With almost a million monthly listeners intently paying attention to her next move, MIIA’s resurgence is set for the heights. “Oxide” is simply fuel to the already blazing fire.
