FENDI × TIFFANY & CO.

The two powerhouses join forces to dream up a one-of-a-kind sterling silver baguette.

To ring in the 25th year that Fendi’s iconic Baguette bag has been in business, the House has linked up with Tiffany & Co. to pay homage to it. First crafted up by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997, the fashion landscape was never the same. Worn under the arm, just like a baguette, the item became quickly coveted. Treasured by the notorious shopaholic Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, the Baguette bag is it.

By means of the House’s ‘hand in hand’ initiative, Fendi joined forces with Tiffany.’s ‘Makers’ – which is comprised of the brand’s artisans, who work at their hollowware workshop in Rhode Island. Breathing new life into the Baguette, Tiffany’s artisans have created an evolution of the cult bag, making it sterling silver all the way through. An homage to heritage, the process of crafting up the sterling silver Baguette took a meticulous and languorous four months. The bag brings two worlds together, as it’s engraved with Italy’s national flower, the lily, as well as the rose – which is New York State’s official flower. The first of Fendi’s ‘hand in hand’ initiative to hail from over the pond, and out of Italy entirely – this collaboration is a meeting of minds.

The Fendi ‘hand in hand’ initiative is a grassroots operation, heralding Italy’s specialist artisans by branching out to each and every region. Kicking off the initiative with the Tiffany sterling silver Baguette, this never-seen-before project is the spark to get the fire going.

Attention to detail is a thread that runs throughout the Tiffany Baguette bag. While the bag was dreamt up to be a specific shape and size, each and every rose and lily was engraved by hand. Using a method called chasing, an age-old silversmithing technique, the Baguette was crafted around the floral pattern itself – symbolising the importance of heritage.

Melding together Tiffany’s spectacular craftsmanship, and Fendi’s iconic house signature – this unique piece is accompanied by a limited capsule of Baguette bags in smooth leather, shiny croco leather with diamonds, and silk satin. Offered up in medium, nano, and pico sizes – the Tiffany Baguette capsule proves that two heads are better than one.
