The independent Nigerian record label, Mavin Records, rings in its 10th year of business with a star-star studded compilation album Chapter X. This milestone moment sees each of the label’s artists revel in their glory – bringing a light to their diverse, shining talent. Headed by the renowned producer Don Jazzy, the record label has blazed its way to the forefront of the Nigerian music scene since its launch in 2012. Transcending Nigeria, and even the continent of Africa – Mavin Records has carved out a place for itself in the global music scene.

A 10-track record, Chapter X lays Mavin Records’ flourishing roster of artists all on display. From Rema, Ayra Starr, LADIPOE, Boy Spyce, Bayanni, Magixx, Crayon, and Johnny Drille – the album’s tracks meander and oscillate between up-tempo production, vast sonic soundscapes, and dance-heavy beats. With the compilation’s single “Overdose (Overloading)” garnering over 200 million streams, the album’s full release is simply fuel to the already blazing fire.

Tracks like “Amina” are pure anthems – wherein Rema and Ayra Starr play off of each other, trading verses in a feat of good vibes. Others, like “You” are dreamy, infused with rose-tinted, love-drunk energy. The track “Jara” rounds off the blazing project with a guest verse from industry maverick Don Jazzy.
