The nascent artist, Kilder, has just ‘unearthed’ the release of his new EP – set for release on December 16th through VLF Records. With the release of “Unearth” on the horizon, Kilder opted to ring in the good news with a sparkling new single. Joining forces with the Oslo-based singer/producer Jouska – the two offer up a scintillating single along with an equally mesmerising music video.
“I Don’t Feel Like Talking” draws you in with palpitating synths that snake from ear to ear, while a garage-inspired beat keeps you hooked. As Jouska’s soft vocals lilt on, the instrumentation gradually crescendos, leading the listener into a hypnotic state of bliss. The accompanying visuals, lensed by Trash Benny, are just as entrancing. Sensorial and evocative, the video is reminiscent of Requiem for a Dream – in that it’s visceral down to the cellular level. All in all, this offering is a feat of pure artistry.
Lyrically, Jouska provides some insight into the track’s inspiration: “I’m a very neurotic person and sometimes I have trouble expressing myself and protecting my boundaries when speaking to certain people in person. I don’t have this problem when texting. It’s definitely a weakness, but I still wanted to write an anthem for all the chat maniacs out there.” In today’s digital landscape, where we’re just as haptic with our devices as we are with others – the lines are no doubt becoming blurred.
Kilder’s upcoming EP, “Unearth” paints a portrait of the dizzying day-to-day of Gen Z. Playing off of the template of his debut project Don’t Hide, Kilder has collaborated with a highly-curated array of emerging artists, such as gglum, Gretel Hänlyn, and Issey Cross; the producer’s distinct electro-pop sound is the backbone of the project. This slew of collaborations also features the vocal stylings of LEILAH – who’s worked with Kilder before. The two joined forces to dream up Kilder’s debut single “Don’t Hide” – which has shaped up to be the producer’s biggest release to date, accumulating over three million streams since its release. Heady, cerebral, and ethereal – a solid foundation was laid for Kilder’s dreamy production prowess.
With his ear to the pop zeitgeist, Kilder is no doubt wielding his punchy song structures and melodic impulses to propel him to great heights. With nods of recognition from the likes of BBC Radio 1, and countless magazine features – we’re clearly not the only ones taking notice. This sophomore project is set to mark a turning point in Kilder’s artistry, and we’re patiently awaiting to see what else he pulls out of the bag.
