Initially a lockdown project, Rewind – Journey of a Music Photographer is Soulla’s Petrou’s colourful account of a life behind the lense. Joined by the likes of Geri Haliwell, Goldie and Fat Boy Slim, the photographer’s new book pays homage to icons of the 90s and noughties, showcasing a number of unpublished images, capturing previous unseen moments in the pop and dance scene of days gone by.
Designed as an immersive trip down memory lane, the artist describes how through curation she was able to “rewind the memories of those shoots, reviving the positive vibes and generating a feelgood factor”, helping to keep her creative during the pandemic. Chroningincally the colourful years between 1994 to 2009, Rewind is a snapshot of a successful career and a strong creative voice, the pages documenting the evolution of Petrou’s practice while paying homage to the legacy of musical icons of the past.
