The LA-based Hip-Hop/R&B artist Trip Carter followed up his sophomore album with this piping-hot release, “Slim Tripper II”. The featured songs are playful, and melodic – which are sure to put you in the mood to vibe. The tracks meander between a more upbeat pop sound, while others feature a booming bass over which Carter demonstrates his masterful flow.
As a child, Carter took to music like a duck to water; picking up the bass at age 10, he never looked back. As Carter began to navigate adulthood, he avoided wading into the ‘real world’ at all costs – picking up miscellaneous bass gigs in order to pay the bills. It was on this whirlwind of odd-jobs when he began to build a sense of community for himself in the music industry. Leaning on the likes of Sabrina Claudio and Felly – Carter slowly but surely began to carve out a corner for himself in the Hip-Hop/R&B scene.
This fresh new release builds upon the foundations that the artist has laid down with his previous releases “Mirage” and “Slim Tripper.” Tracks like the opening “Mindless” are pure feel-good energy, while others like “Rendezvous” are slower, smoother, and more considered. All in all, listeners are treated to Carter’s musical fortitude, which was cultivated while he was forced to step away from the stage due to Covid. Taking the time to truly explore his sound, what results is a captivating body of work that’ll no doubt get your body moving.
