Hailing from Montreal, up-and-coming Chiara Savasta releases an ode to coming of age in the form of new EP “SummerHood, Pt. 1”. Embodying the DIY, lo-fi essence of bedroom pop – which sets it apart from the ubiquitous excessive pop we’re used to hearing on the radio – this body of work is a tentative exploration of the dizzying feelings of adolescence.

“SummerHood, Pt. 1” envelops the listener into Savasta’s teenage fantasy world, which will no doubt resonate with many. We can certainly relate; these dream worlds are a safe haven from all the perils of growing up. Finding solace in dreaming up sparkling, mellow soundscapes, Savara’s new EP is a refreshingly raw insight into the young artist’s mind. “Summer is forever,” the bedroom pop artist’s instagram bio reads; it is this particular longing for a certain time or place which encapsulates the unabashed yearning of a teenager.

Some tracks featured on the EP, such as ‘Brother,’ are more pared down – concentrating on a set of skillful guitars, and Savara’s soft vocals. Other tracks, such as ‘Bike Rides,’ start off with tentative synths which gradually crescendo into a feat of euphoric bliss; the track’s sweeping music video brings its nostalgic quality to the surface. Savasta has knocked it out of the park with her very first body of work, and if this EP is anything to go by – she’s definitely one to watch.
