Hailing from sun-soaked California, the dream pop artist Alice Gray offers up a love-letter in the form of new single “Money”, complete with accompanying visuals. An ode to struggling artists everywhere, Gray taps into our desire for love – and “a little bit of money.” Turning to music in 2015 to work through a broken heart, this young artist proves that music is the best healer.

Gray’s new single taps into 80s-eque pulsing synths that crescendo into an earworm of a chorus. The dream pop artist cites influences like Frank Ocean, Tame Impala and Robyn – and we can’t deny that she’s got good taste! Gray joined forces with producer Pink Skies, who helped to imbue the track with a euphoric Tove Lo-esque sound, which we’re not mad about at all. Her musical references diffuse into this new track in a feat of dreamlike bliss – and its playful music video is just the icing on the cake.

The track’s accompanying visuals explore Gray as a wayward bank teller, who “skims off the top” at work to deliver some stolen funds to her family. The “comically menial” desires that her family end up using the money for – like an AC unit and a lizard – exemplify that we really ought to value the smaller things in life. We can’t disagree with that, and with this electric new single – we can’t wait to hear what else Gray has to say.
