Emotionally gripping, punky, and grandiose, we can totally imagine the credits rolling after a typical teen movie prom scene to a track like “That Girl”, a hyper-relatable pop-punk cut about the pressure imposed on young girls to adhere to societal standards of perfection.
The title track is a roaring closure to the album. “End of an Era” encapsulates the anxieties that come with the responsibilities of adulthood in the age of post-accelerationism. The lyrics are humorous and nostalgic, as Emei recounts the times when she and her friends were wasted watching Pixar on a school night, unaware of what growing pains would await once the carefreeness of adolescence is gone. It’s a beautiful and sincere ode to naiveness, accompanied by crisp guitars and an infectious chorus.
