The haunting new single from Tuvaband – aka Tuva Hellum Marschhäuser – is a gentle interference of hope in a world that to many, including the Norweigian artist, felt desolate. Living in Berlin during the pandemic, she found the setting bleak and the atmosphere strained, leaving her pining for a message of positivity. “I will write pleasure now, for the very first time,” she sings on the track, amongst ambling, mesmeric production, relying on little more than electric guitar dustings and a leisurely drum beat.

It’s the latest track from the Oslo act who’s established herself as a trusted producer of vivid, eclectic indie-folk and rock since her debut EP “Unknown / (It’s Not About) Running” in 2016. Since she’s earned a Norweigan Grammy nomination and accumulated countless comparisons to legendary artists like Kate Bush and The Cocteau Twins. Her latest LP, New Orders, is due on October 21st and sees her taking a 360-degree approach in a way she hasn’t before. She opted to turn her hand to every part of the process, from playing the instruments (minus trombone and drums) to recording, producing and mixing. Autonomous and in full, unfiltered flow, if “Something Good” is anything to go by, the release looks set to grant Tuvaband even more praise than she’s garnered so far.
